An excellent alternative to Uggs. The Pawz by Bearpaw are well made and affordable. The Bearpaws come in several boot length options. I purchased the 12 inch lug boot. Since I live in Chicago, it is important to have a boot that serves many purposes: warmth, fashionable, durable, and comfortable. I have worn them in six inches of snow and my feet never not got cold or even worse, wet. I have worn the boots both with and without socks. With socks, my feet sweat. I actually prefer to wear the without socks. The wool inside is thick and soft, I love the way the wool feels on my shins. The boots do run a little big in size, because with wear, the suede uppers stretch. So, I would suggest sizing down for a snugger fit. Furthermore, the suede uppers are well made and lush. I purchased them in black and all it takes is an occasional brushing and they look new again. The lug sole does make a difference. I have had a pair without the lug sole and found myself skidding on an unexpected ice patch. I do appreciate the added traction. Many people have commented that the boots look far more expensive than what I paid. The boots are truly worth every penny.

This is my second pair of BEARPAW Altai boots. (My first pair came from a different online retailer.) They are incredibly comfortable, like walking on pillows. They have a slight rise in the heel, but it's barely noticeable. I've worn them in snow and ice, and I feel very steady on them. Also, these boots are great for people with larger calves, because the lacing gives plenty of room. They keep my feet cozy warm, and they look great with pants, jeans, or skirts.

I have not had the problem mentioned by other reviewers of tabs popping off with either pair of boots. However, my first pair did have a quality issue where the sole came away from the last in the left boot, which led to a kind of "squish" feeling whenever I stepped with that foot/leg. So, I am dinging these a star because the quality seems to be hit or miss.

As far as fit, I ordered in my normal size, and they do feel a little tight at first, plus it took some pull-and-tug to get my foot into the boot. However, after a few wearings, the lining inside conforms to your foot. After that, they feel perfect. So, do not give up on them if they feel a little snug at first...they will loosen with wear.

OMG - these boots are amazing. I moved to Montana a few years ago and we get tons of snow here every winter - IT SUCKS. Anyways I love fashion and i hate those yucky snowboots I've owned several pairs of UGGS and a pair of EMU's and they dont last for a long time over here plus they are pretty spendy. I almost broke down and bought a pair of columbia snowshoes this year when I ran across the bearpaws. There are a lot of UGG imitations out there and they are usually crap but for the price, (amazon had them on sale through a private seller) (new) + 95 cent shipping (I know right)I had to get them!!! I received them shortly after i purchased them online and they are a dream. They feel better than my 0 Uggs. More sturdy and warmer and they look the same.
Like i said - the best snowboots I've ever owned. Oh yea a lot of these boots like Emus and Uggs run bigger but the bearpaws are true to size! if you wear a size 9 get a size 9, if you wear a 9.5 get a 10 - Do not go smaller!!!
